Newby Bridge

Newby bridge is at the southern end of Windermere, on the road to Barrow in Furness.
Newby Bridge and the River Leven.

A close up of the river flowing over the weir.
An idyllic place to live? I would be worried when the river level rises though.

The Swan Hotel.
A swan over the door of course.
A view of the Swan Hotel from halfway across the bridge.
The river flows out of Lake Windermere.

Toppled Tree In Morecambe

The gale force winds this morning, gusting up to 70 m.p.h., brought a tree down at the junction of Oxcliffe Road and Fairfield Road in Morecambe.
Cutting the tree up to clear the road. It was lucky no one was hurt when it fell, and that it toppled into the road and not onto the adjacent bungalows, out of picture on the right.

A Walk Around Ulverston: Part 2 of 2

The Rose & Crown pub in King Street.
These are the sort of coloured buildings you would see in parts of the Republic of Ireland.

An Indian takeaway.
There are several buildings of architectural merit in Ulverston, like this one now housing an estate agents.
A carpet shop on the corner of Upper Brook Street.
Another brightly coloured building, in Upper Brook Street.

You couldn't miss the Gill Cycles building!

Girls entrance to the former Holy Trinity School.

A quiet location in the centre of Ulverston, which looks very rural and rustic like.

A decorative end of a bench.
This feline doesn't look too pleased at having its photograph taken. (Pic - Mooncat755).

The Cumbrian Way sculpture.
Look at the house number!
Great name for a fishing tackle shop.

A Walk Around Ulverston: Part 1 of 2

A two-part visit to Ulverston, starting with the cobbled Market Street.
Watch out for the Elves.
And the Gnomes.
Further along Market Street.
It is surprising what you can see when you look up at buildings. Such as the long gone Swarthmoor and Ulverston ..... (See next image).
.... Co-Operative Society Limited.
The modern day Co-operative store, much smaller, just across the road from the old one.
Local newspaper offices.
One of several wall murals as can be seen from the following images.

I liked the shadow of the lamp on the wall of Smith's Court.
A hand cart.
This old building is on the corner of Soutergate and Fountain Street.
Hoad's Monument as seen from Fountain Street. (Pic - Mooncat755).
