Waterhead

A set of photo's that I took last month, featuring Waterhead, at the north end of Lake Windermere.

Boats for hire.

A scheme has been approved to redevelop this area. For the better? We'll wait and see.

It was very quiet, unlike this month when it would have been packed with tourists during the school holidays.

One of the passenger launches.

'Gypsy' has been hired, for a row on the lake. No takers for 'Delia' though.
Despite now being called Ambleside Pier, (a little misleading?), it is at Waterhead, which is a steady mile long walk form the town.

Alnmouth

Alnmouth is located four miles south east of Alnwick at the mouth of the River Aln. It was once an important trading port, mainly dealing in grain. The above view is of Northumberland Street. All the photo's in this series are taken by Mooncat755.
The mouth of the River Aln and the North Sea beyond. The river changed course after a voilent storm in 1806 and that led to the decline of Alnmouth as a port.

A view north east.
Lots of folk taking a walk on the beach.
Tank traps to stop any invasion.
The golf course is the fourth oldest in England. It was opened in 1869.
A flight of steps to where?

The Sun Inn.
Some cottages.

Pelter Bridge

Pelter Bridge is north of Ambleside, near Rydal. This view is looking south towards Ambleside, with the road over the bridge just visible on the right.
