Torhouse Stone Circle

The information board at the Torhouse Stone Circle. The Circle, consisting of 19 granite stones,  is located at Torhouse, three miles west of Wigtown in Dumfries and Galloway, South West Scotland. All photo's in this series were taken by Lynda Braithwaite.
Although the stones are assumed to be a Druid Circle, local tradition maintains that it is the site of King Galdus' tomb.
King Galdus is believed to have successfully fought off the Romans in A.D.80 and is credited with being the source of the County name, Galloway.
