A Walk Around Silverdale

A much longer set of photographs than normal, covering a walk around the village of Silverdale. I caught the bus from Carnforth and alighted at Bottoms Lane.
Now a private residence, this building was formerly a Church.

Arnside in two different directions!
The War Memorial.

As I am nearly 6' tall, I should be OK if I lie down across this lane!!

What a sorry state the long closed Royal Hotel is in. A bit of an eyesore for the village.
Plans have been rumbling on for quite some time for the Royal Hotel site.

Edinburgh: Stockbridge.

The Stockbridge area of Edinburgh is very different from the hustle and bustle of Princes Street, and the city centre, with many individual shops

We walked along part of this from Dean village to Stockbridge.

Ingleton: Part 2 of 2

Better late than never! Here's part two of the visit to Ingelton. The narrow main road through Ingleton.

As a fellow cat person, oh dear, so sad.

Crash, Bang, Wallop! No Phone or Internet

Crash, bang, wallop. I'm back online! In the early hours of Monday morning, a car flattened a roadside British Telecom telephone broadband cabinet about 200 yards away from here. Result was we (and many others) lost our phone line and of course the Internet.

Since then I have of course been unable to update the North West Images site, but hope to do so today.

We got the phone line back up and working yesterday afternoon, and thankfully now back on line today. It has been so very frustrating.

I just hope the car driver is suitably dealt with and made to pay for the damage caused, but somehow I doubt that will be the case.

Snowing In Yealand Conyers

This photo was taken at 3.30pm this afternoon in Yealand Conyers, near Carnforth. It had been snowing for over an hour. Pic by Lynda Braithwaite.

Ingleton: Part 1 of 2

Although Ingleton is in North Yorkshire, it is only just! With Lancashire nearby.
The former railway viaduct dominates Ingleton as it crosses the valley.
Under the railway bridge. Ingleton station was off to the right.

Curlew Crafts is a gift shop, plus tea room and cafe.
