Keswick : The Old RailwayStation

The last train to pull out of this station was in March 1972.  Almost 43 years later, one side of Keswick station is remarkably intact as can be seen from this series of photographs.
There was another platform to the left, but traces of this has now disappeared.
Keswick was served by trains from Workington to Penrith, The line was opened to passenger traffic in January 1865.
The section of line westwards from Keswick to Cockermouth and Workington was closed on 18th April 1966. The remaining line eastwards to Penrith finally closed on 6th March 1972.
Photo taken through a glass window.

Porter's barrow.

Looking towards the Penrith direction.
A view of the platform and station towards the Workington direction.

The trackbed is now a delightful footpath. There was another station at Threlkeld.
Easy walking as can be seen.
Looking back towards Keswick station.
I wonder where this chap was going carrying a ladder?
The station had a glass canopy over the platform.
On the trackbed.
