Low Wood To Ambleside Walk: Part 2 of 2

We continue our walk from Low Wood to Ambleside along the shore of Lake Windermere. Having left Helm Crag behind (see yesterday's images), we now head toward Waterhead.

A boathouse with Helm Crag in the middle distance.

Our next objective is to reach Waterhead. The Lake cruise ship, 'Swan' can be seen moored at the pier. It's further away than it looks, with this image being taken on zoom.

A beck gurgles its way into Lake Windermere.

Still following the shore line.

Canoeing.

'Swan' has left the pier at Waterhead and sets off for Bowness, then Lakeside at the southern end of the lake.

It's time to leave the shore at this point and a walk alongside the main road to Waterhead.

I think this may be out of my price range!!

Despite the sign showing 'Ambleside Pier,' this is Waterhead, with the town of Ambleside a mile away.

'Princess of the Lake' moored alongside one of the piers at Waterhead.

The peace and quiet of the first part of the walk is forgotten about when you reach Waterhead, which is always busy.

Moving on to Borran's Park, a view back toward Waterhead.

A short section of lane walking, and slightly uphill, as we leave Lake Windemrere behind.

Confusing signs. So is there access or not?

Walking toward the town centre at Ambleside, you pass the distinctive building of the Log House restaurant.

Signs everywhere.

Ambleside. The end of the walk.
