Astley Park, Chorley: Part 1 of 2

Astley Park is a short walk from the town centre in Chorley. A large open grassed area, woodland, lake, walled garden, pets corner,  and the centre piece being the superb Astley Hall which is now a museum and art gallery.

The war memorial.

Here she is ... Victoria.
OK, own up. How many of you used to watch Bill and Ben, The Flowerpot Men?
There are some magnificent trees in the park.
The first glimpse of the lake.

The lake and a few local residents.

The Hall is well known for its Jacobean plasterwork ceilings and the house is built around an internal Elizabethan courtyard. The four wings of the house were extended by the families who lived here and most of the original features are retained to this day.
I wouldn't want the job of cleaning the windows!

  1. Lots to see & enjoy at this park, I'm glad to see the "dog waiting station", a nice touch.
