Edinburgh: Dene Village

Dene Village is a conservation area, a mere short walk from Edinburgh's hustle and bustle of Princes Street. It is an area of the city that is undoubtedly missed by a lot of tourists,  yet there are some really old buildings to be found, in what is a deep valley, with the Water of Leith cutting through the middle. A longer set of photo's than usual, as it seemed a shame to split them in a couple of parts.

Some of the oldest buildings in Edinburgh can be found in Dene Village.
Hawthornbank Lane.
The cobbled streets add to the area's charm.
Edinburgh School Board building. See photo below.

One of the bridges over the Water of Leith.

The Water of Leith between the historic buildings.
This view gives some idea as to how deep the valley is.
Our travelling mascot wanted his photo taken!

Washing day!
Architecture so typical of Edinburgh.
The final view of the Water of Leith.
