Newby Bridge Station

Entrance to Newby Bridge Halt, the only intermediate station on the preserved Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. Steam services connect at Lakeside with the Windermere cruises, to Bowness and Waterhead Ambleside.
An old photograph showing what Newby Bridge Halt used to look like.
This is what it looks like today. A view towards Lakeside.
The waiting shelter has a display of photographs of the line from years gone by.

A gradient post at the Halt.
A view from the platform towards Haverthwaite.
Unusual seat. note the cast iron back of the bench,  the name of the Valentia Foundry, Maryport, Cumbria. The foundry    was a major employer in the town in the 1800s.
