Knott End - Fleetwood Ferry

The ferry from Knott End to Fleetwood provides a very useful link across the River Wyre, used by workers, locals, shoppers and people like me! The crossing takes just a few minutes, otherwise it is a very long way round by road.
The slipway at Knott End with Fleetwood seen in the distance, where you can catch the tram onwards to Blackpool
The ferry arrives at a very blustery Knott End slipway.
Loading for the return trip to Fleetwood. It proved to be quite a choppy crossing.
Arrived at Fleetwood.
Looking out across the River Wyre toward Knott End. The ferry service is half-hourly during the summer.

  1. Reminds me of the old New Holland to Hull paddle steamer ferry (before "The Bridge"). It often got stuck on sandbank if the tides were low.
