Levens Hall Gardens: Part 1 of 2

Levens Hall Gardens, renowned for the topiary, and are free to visit during weekends leading up to Christmas. I went along this morning and enjoyed a walk around the gardens.
Levens Hall.

Laid out in the 1690s, the garden amazingly still retains many of its original features.

The sun dial. Sadly the sun was nowhere to be seen this morning!
Archway leading to the pond.

There are many walkways in the gardens.
The gardens are set in 10 acres of land.

Rear of Levens Hall.
Just a small part of the magnificent topiary garden.

The topiary gardens are reckoned to be the finest, oldest and most extensive in the world with over 100 pieces, all clipped to various designs.

Hours must be spent constantly trimming in the topiary garden.

(Part Two of the visit to Levens Hall Gardens will appear tomorrow on North West Images.)
