February In Blackpool: Part 1 of 3

I did think about calling these set of images - 'Blackpool Stripped Bare' - for the famous seaside town is a very different place on a Tuesday afternoon in February compared to how it promotes itself to the throngs of holidaymakers and day trippers during the Summer months. Indeed a good deal of Blackpool is shut at this time of the year, deserted and looking a bit down at heel in places, instead of its brash and busy self. However, if I have to visit Blackpool, then I much prefer this time of the year to avoid the thousands of people who would be there in the Summer. I started off on a walk along a breezy promenade at the North Pier.
No one around to buy candy floss or pop corn at the North Pier.
The sea was rolling in at the North Pier.

This made me feel sick just looking at the building. I simply do not eat sea food of any kind.
Not many passengers on this tram heading towards Starr Gate, having started its journey at Fleetwood.

The iconic Blackpool Tower.

Looking into the weak, but welcome sunshine towards Central Pier.
Blackpool Lifeboat Station and Shop.
Coral Island.
The Sea Life Centre.
A bit closer to Central Pier. The sea was quite choppy, with a gusty wind blowing it on shore.
A fisherman and his dog.
Looking back at the Tower.
Madame Tussauds, home of waxwork figures.
The Big Wheel on Central Pier.

(Part 2 of a February in Blackpool will be continued tomorrow).

  1. A nice set of images, free of visitors there is a completely different atmosphere. I live in a seaside resort and I really like the winter time.
