Heversham

The village of Heversham is near Milnthorpe, and adjoins Leasgill which was featured on North West Images a few days ago.
Signpost in the centre of the village.
There are several old cottages and buildings in the village.

This plaque is on the left hand site of the gates as pictured in the previous image. Mrs. R. Tyron-Wilson (nee Rosemary Lucas), married Brigadier Tryon-Wilson (see details under following image) in 1975.
This plaque is on the right side of the Jubilee Playground gates. Tryon-Wilson was born September 1909 and was awarded the D.S.O. in the Army. He later worked for the Tadcaster Tower Brewery, then Bass Charrington until his retirement in 1965. He had inherited the nearby Dallam Estate in Milnthorpe on the death of his uncle, and then played a prominent part in local affairs.
The former village school.
This date is on the old school building. The initials' J.G., refer to the person who founded the school, James Gandy.
