Penrith: New Squares Shopping Centre

I caught the service 106 bus from Kendal to reach Penrith, which in this case was operated by Reays of Wigton.
As the bus went around the Lowther Estate, we were held up by these couple of horses.
Arriving outside the New Squares shopping centre in Penrith. It opened in June 2013, after being much delayed, with the biggest retailer in the centre being a 55,000 sq. ft. Sainsbury's supermarket.
Sainsbury's. I''m afraid the vast majority of shop units in the rest of the development are still empty, nine months after the centre opening, as will be seen by the following images.

Empty shop units. Apartments above.

You begin to wonder if all the shop units will ever be taken?
In complete contrast a building of character at the junction of Bowling Green Lane.

Two Lions Square. Everywhere you look - empty shops.

Heading towards the town centre where some of the shop units were taken.
