Brockhole: The Gardens

In 1969 the Lake District National Park Authority purchased thie Victorian country house, known as Brockhole, along with its vast grounds which overlook Lake Windermere. It became England's first National Park Visitor Centre
The gardens are a delight to walk around and view whatever the time of the year.
One of the many paths in the grounds.
Anothe rbank of daffodils, with Brockhole, the house, high above them, in the background.

I liked the shape of this fallen branch
The woodland area overlooking Lake Windermere.

An old flight of steps.
Looking the other way from the top of the steps.
Thomas Mawson laid these gardens out for the Gaddum family, around 100 years ago.
Mist and low cloud over the Lake.
Sit a while?
Brockhole, the house. The Gaddum family purchased the property in 1899 and added a series of west and south facing terraces which slope gently down toward Lake Windermere.

Something for the kids at Brockhole. A climbing tower and rope walkway through the trees.
