Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway

Entrance to the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway at their Haverthwaite terminus, which is situated just north of the town of Ulverston. The line runs from Havertwhaite to Lakeside at the south end of Lake Widnermere where it connects with the ships to Bowness and Waterhead.
The station buildings.
The railway is a former branch line of the Furness Railway and was opened on 1 June 1869.[1] The line was served by local passenger trains which started their journey at Ulverston.
British Railways closed the line to passengers on 6 September 1965, and to all traffic two years later.
A group of enthusiasts re-opened the truncated 3.5 miles line as a heritage railway on 2nd May 1973.
