Lancaster: St. Georges Quay

The St. Georges Quay area in Lancaster, alongside the River Lune, is a mixture of old and new buildings, some of which have been converted into riverside apartments, others housing businesses such as local commercial radio station, Bay Radio.

Note the building that leans to one side!
Formerly the Customs House, now the Maritime Museum.
One of three pubs in the Quay area.
Another view of the George and Dragon pub.
Bay Radio broadcast from part of this building.

Wagon and Horses pub.
Carlisle Bridge spans the River Lune and carries the busy West Coast railway.
The area at the far end of the Quay is being cleared for a housing development.
This old warehouse is still standing .... just!

Former entrances to floors in the warehouse, now apartments.

The Millennium foot bridge.
A reminder of that Lancaster was once a centre of the slave trade.

The Three Mariners pub.
