Tomnahurich Cemetary

Possibly the most unlikely set of images I have featured on North West Images! Cemetaries are not for everyone, however, they do contain a fascinating amount of history, simply by reading the various headstones and memorials especially, as in this case, they are from the 18th century to the present day. Tomnahurich Cemetary, Inverness, covers huge area, with many of the graves situated on a hillside. It is quite a walk to the top, where you will find a war memorial on the highest point, with terrific views over Inverness and beyond. Note, it is not for those who do not like heights and sheer drops - me!

Part way to the top of the hill. A view of the Kessock road bridge in the distance.
Looking down on the Caledonian Canal (Pic- Mooncat755).
It's along, steady, spiral climb to the top.
Some of the trades etched on the headstones have long gone, in this case, a Seedsman.
