Aviemore Station & The Strathspey Railway

Aviemore station is served by regular trains to and from Inverness, Glasgow and Edinburgh. It is also the home to the Strathspey Railway who operate from Aviemore to Boat of Garten and Broomhill.

Many original features are still in place at the station. This is the ticket office and waiting area.
A wooden train set on the southbound platform.
The station, looking south. The platform on the far left, behind the building and white fence is used by the Strathspey Railway, and you can occasionally see preserved steam locomotives working the line.
The station canopy architecture.

Semaphore signals, rather than colour lights, are still in use here.  The loco and carriage shed, plus work shops for the Strathspey Railway can just be seen in the distance on the right.
A closer look.
The Strathspey Railway are hoping to extend the railway to Grantown-on-Spey.

An old signal lever frame on display.
I spotted this poster through a window, relating to closure of stations in May 1965.
