Grantown-On-Spey

The typical wide main street at Grantown-on-Spey. The town was originally called 'Grantown' with the addition of the words 'on Spey' being added in 1898.

This type of architecture could only be in Scotland. The Grantown-on-Spey Community Centre.
The local headlines.
There are several small, individual shops in Grantown, as can be seen in the following images.

A fine selection of jars of sweets.
A problem with parking in Grantown.

  1. A place I've not heard of, a good selection of very interesting old shop fronts. So much more interesting than the uPVC modern premises.

  2. I agree, After leaving here, we went to nearby Aviemore, but not particularly photogenic, apart from the railway station, I have to say.

  3. Lovely interesting pictures as usual. We stayed one night in Grantown many years ago during a holiday touring around the Highlands. It's a lovely town. Love the old individual shops. I agree with you about Aviemore...not particularly photogenic apart from the surrounding scenery.
