Grasmere

Preparations were well under way for the annual Grasmere Lakeland Sports and Show, which were being held two days after my visit.
One of the marquee's in place for the Show.

Enjoying a tasty snack.
This large William Wordsworth Memorial Drinking Fountain and bench is on the outskirts of Grasmere at Town End, alongside the A591.
Early bird offer at Goody Blake's.
Considering this was August and peak of the holiday season, Grasmere was surprisingly quiet.

The William Wordsworth family graves, which are viewed by thousands of people each year.
St. Oswalds Church.
Despite the narrow roads, and lack of pavements for pedestrians, there is a regular bus service and steady stream of traffic through here.

Selling fish out the back of a van. David O'Connor of Fleetwood.
A view across the green.
I wonder if anything was bought for the dog?
It's good to see a red telephone box still in use.

The well known Heaton Cooper Studio and Gallery.
The half-hourly bus service at this time of the year, from Keswick to Kendal.
