Morecambe: Vintage By The Sea Festival

The first ever Vintage By Sea Festival took place in Morecambe this weekend. Organised by Wayne Hemingway M.B.E. former owner of the internationally renowned Red Or Dead fashion brand, who was born in the town. His company, Hemingway Design,  previously organised similar successful festivals in Preston and London.
It certainly got very busy during the time I was there, and it is hoped that this will become an annual event. Based primarily at the Midland Hotel, the town's former theatre, The Winter Gardens, was also used.
The art-deco Midland Hotel was just the perfect location for the festival. The Vintage Market being especially popular.

Punch and Judy shows for the kids ... and big kids.
These classic cars certainly didn't look out of place in front of the fine setting of the Midland Hotel.
There were a few familiar classic cars which had also been on show at the recent Heysham gathering of classic and vintage vehicles.

A superbly restored Austin.

This unusual Citroen was one of several takeaway food outlets.
They did look tasty!
Loved the 1960's flower power outfit being worn. The car looked good as well!

Another black and white 60s outfit. Reminds me of The Beatles era.
There were all sorts of items on sale in the Vintage Market. Bridal wear, on the left, to clothing and bric-a-brac, including lots of memorabilia from the 1930s through until the 60s.
Whilst you were looking at this sale of vintage crockery, you could also listen to 1930 and 40s music in the background.
Anyone remember these?
I took these images just after the market had opened. Half an hour later, it would have been impossible to get any photographs as it was so busy.

The Midland Hotel staff were selling glasses of Champagne or Pimms.
More folk were arriving by the minute.
Regular performances were staged by the Flea Circus.
A collection of Ladies powder compacts.
The Midland Hotel was just perfect for this successful event.
The spiral staircase is a well known feature in the entrance hall of the Midland Hotel. Looking up at the famous Eric Gill sculpture on the ceiling. It wasn't easy to get a photograph of it, as there were people moving in and out the building all the time.
A vintage pram.

    1. Thanks for the comment. I got there at 11am, as i felt that I would have a better chance of getting some pics before it got busy. I'm glad I did! I left at about 12.30pm.
