Waterhead

Despite the prominent sign - 'Ambleside Pier' - this really is at Waterhead at the north end of Lake Winderrere. I suspect it is for the benefit of the geographically challenged, who would probably have never heard of Waterhead. However, they must have a rude shock when arriving here by ship or launch, for the town of Ambleside is a one mile walk away!
It was a busy day for passengers, with an extra sailing scheduled to Bowness.
This unusual mode of transport - a converted battery powered milk float, now a people carrier, shuttles between the pier at Waterhead and Ambleside. Not sure what the driver was doing though!! There are also regular bus services between the two places, or of course you could enjoy a walk.
One of the smaller launches, 'Princess of the Lake,' taking on board passengers at Waterhead.
If you are feeling energetic, you could always go for a spell of rowing with either June or Melanie.
A swan and cygnets.
It doesn't seem if these two are on speaking terms.
Long distance view of the real 'Swan' - the cruise ship - awaiting departure from Waterhead. It will then head for Bowness and Lakeside.  (Pic - Roving Lakeland Correspondent).
Another view of 'Swan.' (Pic - Roving Lakeland Correspondent).
A few boats moored on the lake.
I couldn't resist taking a photo of this fine looking canine.
