Belsfield: Bowness

Entrance to the Belsfield Hotel in Bowness.  It is a prominent building, overlooking the Bowness Pier area and uninterrupted views north along Lake Windermere. It wasn't always a hotel though, being formerly owned by H.W. Schneider, a Barrow ironmaster and industrialist.

A view of the pier ftom the lower garden of the hotel. Schneider lived in Belsfield from 1869 and provided the initiative to improve the pier. He also built almshouses, still standing in Crag Walk.
Part of the colourful gardens.
The impressive Belsfield Hotel which stands high above Bowness Pier.

Looking north along the lake.
There is even a good view from the gateway.
