A Walk Around Rydal

Although the sun was shining, with not a cloud in the sky, there had been an overnight frost and there was still a chill in the air when I visited Rydal last week. The start of the walk across the footbridge.
A view from the footbridge.
Across the other side.
The first glimpse of Rydal itself, iced over!
Onwards through the wooded path.
Looking north toward Grasmere. Snow can be seen on the tops in the distance.
A dark shadow over the ice.
By the look of these well established roots, the tree is pretty old.
Another view of Rydal with its layer of ice.
A bit further on you can see where the layer of ice ends.  A local in the foreground comes to have a chat with me.
