Windermere

Windermere station is much changed from steam days. The line used to go into the building at the far end, which was part of the station, and is now a Booths supermarket. Nevertheless, the station design fits in well architecturally with its surrounds. It is the single track terminus on the line form Oxenholme on the West Coast main line.
Originally called Lakeland Plastics, now Lakeland, the biggest employer in the area, with shops nationwide. This is its Windermere 'flagship' store which is well worth a visit.
