Hornby

Hornby is 8.5 miles north east of Lancaster, and is one of a number of settlements in the Lune valley. Main road through the village, looking towards the bridge over the River Wenning,.
A weir on the River Wenning, with Hornby Castle in the middle distance.
Through the arches. When the river is in flood, you certainly could not stand here!
Fly - as in fishing, not flying!
A view from the bridge itself, looking downstream.
Another view of the weir.
The gated entrance to Hornby Castle.
An old dated - 1629 - stone, now part of the bus shelter!! (pic - Lynda Braithwaite).
Free range hen and duck eggs for sale.

  2. Lovely river, I found the "Fly" notice rather amusing. Interesting pics as always Mike.
