The Dock Museum: Inside

The second and final part of the visit to The Dock Museum in Barrow-in-Furness, where we have a look inside the building, which has many fascinating displays. The above image is of the main entrance.
There are various references, not just to the former Iron Ore industry, ship building and the railways, but also local landmarks etc. and the general development of the town of Barrow. How it has grown and changed over the years.

A replica Viking Longboat in the Invaders, Traders and Settlers section of the Museum.
The Dock Museum, as the name suggests, is partly built over a former Dry Dock, and you can go right to the bottom of it where there are more exhibits. It is only then you realise just how deep the Dry Dock was.
There are a number of model ships on display, all of which were built in Barrow or had a connection with the town.
The Cunard liner, Oriana.

Rivets. An important part of ship building!
At the very bottom of the Dry Dock.
This was on the bottom floor as well.
