Clachnaharry

The Caledonian Canal ends at Clachnaharry. The last lock before entering the sea. (Pic - Lynda Braithwaite).
This vessel called 'Rhubarb 2'' awaits its turn through the lock.
The rail swing bridge, looking out toward the end of the canal in the distance.
A train heads across the swing bridge for the far north line, Wick and Thurso.
Clachnaharry signal box.
I had never seen the swing bridge open before, so was fortunate to do so on this occasion.
The Kessock road bridge in the distance and a 'local' going for a walk along the canal.
North Kessock village. (Pic - Lynda Braithwaite).
'Rhubarb 2' passes through the open swing bridge.
The village of Clachnaharry
The swing bridge is fully open, thus blocking the rail line. The Kessock road bridge can once again be seen in the distance. (Pic - Lynda Braithwaite).
Clachnaharry from the rail foot bridge. There used to be a station here, which closed many years ago.
A liquid refreshment stop at The Clachnaharry Inn.
The bowl of chips were good as well, both a substantial portion and home made.
Another look at Clachnaharry village.
With the swing bridge open, there were no trains.
The end of the line, blocked by the swing bridge.
