The Water Witch & The Lancaster Canal

The area by the canalside pub,  The Water Witch, in Lancaster, is one of my favourite places to photograph canal boats. The pub happens to be quite an attraction too!  Here we see 'Farthings Hook.'
A closer look.
'Swanswood.'
Gliding by and heading north - 'Rest and be Thankful.'
Warning outside The Water Witch.
The Water Witch, who serve an excellent ever changing range of real ales.
Reflections.
From the canal over bridge, looking south.
Gathering to board 'Kingfisher' for a trip along the Lancaster Canal.
It proved to be a busy day on the Canal.
An extra couple of passengers.
One narrowboat after another. Note the one behind near the bridge.

A decorative bench alongside the Canal
And another.
A final, tranquil view.

  1. Some great scope for photo's here, I love boats and water. Is this the same canal that goes to Skipton passing through Gargrave?

  2. The canal at Skipton and Gargrave is the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. The lancaster Canal runs from Preston to Tewitfield, just north of Carnforth, although at one time it went through as far as Kendal. You can still follow it on foot, and work is progressing to try and reopen it.
