The stroll around Staveley (situated 4 miles north of Kendal), starts with a view of the River Kent which flows through the village. The smaller tributary, the River Gowan flows into the Kent nearby. |
A look in the other direction. |
The Eagle & Child pub, and it was time for a beer. |
On one of the walls in the Eagle & Child were three old advertisements. |
Spotted on a wall of a building was this logo for the Cycle Touring Club. |
What happened to bucket number one, I wonder? |
Staveley Post Office. |
If there is time, a must visit! Highly recommended. |
A row of cottages. |
The former Methodist Chapel, now a private residence. |
The Sensory Garden. |
However, it had clearly been neglected. Look at the weeds. |
St James Church. |
Unusual carvings on the Church door. |
A look inside. |
It was difficult to get a photo of this avoiding reflections. However, I am sure it will be of interest to our Canadian friends who look at North West Images on a regular basis. |
Finally, the Vicars of Staveley. |
