Liverpool: The Waterfront

The last time I had visited the Pier Head and Waterfront area of Liverpool was probably back in the 1970s, so not surprisingly there had been many changes since then. It is only a short walk form the city centre (as above), to reach the Waterfront.
The Museum of Liverpool. A hideous piece of architecture in my opinion.
The Port of Liverpool Building, was built in 1907 as the head office of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board.
Liverpool's iconic Royal Liver Building, complete with Liver bird on the top. The building to the right is The Cunard Building, which was built between 1914 and 1917.
A queue for ice cream on what was a warm day.
Another view of the Royal Liver Building. Look how graceful it is in comparison to that tower block on the left!
Built in 1911, the Royal Liver Building is the home of  the Royal Liver Assurance group.
Liverpool is a port of call for cruises. This time it was the 'Infinity' that was visiting. Built in 2001, the ship is registered in Valletta, Malta.
The Mersey Ferry was well loaded.
There are several modern sculptures and art works such as this.
Back in the city centre and the water feature.

  1. A contrast of old and new architectures and unlike your self I rather like the Museum of Liverpool building.
