High Newton

The village green at High Newton. The small village is a good deal quieter since the A590 bypass was opened in April 2008. The nearest town of any note is Grange over Sands.
A closer view of the village pub, The Crown.

The Village Hall.
A well preserved Second World War pill box. I doubt if the enemy would have wanted to attack High Newton, or even had it on their list of targets.
The older part of the village.
There are many old residential properties in the village.

Another view of the village.

The old village pump.
A village beck.

  1. A very nice area, when we used to holiday in the lakes we always had a day or two in the Cartmel area. It's never busy and a well kept secret venue.
