Temple of Mithras and Brocolita

A final visit to Hadrian's Wall Country. The Temple of Mithras, sited near a former Roman military base, was founded in the 3rd century. It is a temple to eastern god, Mithras.

Temple altar stones.
Carving of the God.
A timetable for the AD122 bus service, which is a summer only route linking Carlisle with Newcastle, via Hexham, and calling at various places of interest along Hadrian's Wall.
Brocolita is a World Heritage site. It was the site of 3.5 acre site of a Roman auxillary fort.
Looking north from Brocolita. You could certainly see a long way form the fort.
