Gressingham Village & Church

The small village of Gressingham, in the Lune Valley, is near Hornby, north of Lancaster.
The narrow Loyne road bridge over the River Lune that leads to the village. The bridge is believed to date back to medieval time and is Grade 11 Listed
The River Lune looking as cold as it really was on the day of the visit.
The centre of the village. In the last Census, there were fewer than 200 folk living here.
Stone crosses in the church yard.
Gressingham Parish Church of St. John.
The Church was originally built in the 12th century and is a Grade 1 Listed building. It was partly rebuilt in 1734.

Inside the Church.

The Church banner.
Looking out of the lattice windows.
This was a difficult image to take owing to the glare on the wooden board.

Another stained glass window.

  1. Interesting church & very good interior images, not always easy. I found the list of Incumbents interesting, they seemed to have longer periods of service in times gone by.
