Fortrose

Fortrose is on the Black Isle north of Inverness. At one stage it was the end of a branch railway line from the Muir of Ord, which closed to passengers in June 1960.

The ruins of Fortrose Cathedral. The sandstone building dates from the 13th century.

The Union Tavern pub was up for sale.
Anderson's Bar, the other pub in Fortrose, has a very good reputation for ales, however, it has always been shut whenever we have visited!
Colourful shop front.
