St. Ninian's Cave & Portcastle Bay

A short walk to Portcastle Bay and St. Ninian's Cave, which are located near the Isle of Whithorn in South Wesr Scotland.
The path through Physgill Glen.
Continuing through the wooded area.

Finally reaching the beach at Portcastle Bay with St Ninian's Cave in the distance.
Looking back up Physgill Glen from the beach.
A spring on the beach.
Natural rock sculpture.
A Dinosaur egg!!
More rock sculpture.

A sea washed log. I wonder where it originally came from?
The entrance to St Ninian's Cave.
A closer look. The cave was sued as a retreat by St. Ninian and successors in the 6th and 7th centuries.
Inside the cave.
Looking out of the cave at Portcastle Bay. The shape of the cave opening is like the outline of a cat!
Looking back along the beach.
A final view looking back at the sea from the path along Physgill Glen.

(Thanks to our Roving Scotland Correspondent for all of the above images).
