Hesket Newmarket

If you are seeking a typical English village, then Hesket Newmarket is the place to go. Wide open village green; Gorgeous cottages; A shop. post office and tea rooms; The village pub, complete with its own brewery. This is deepest rural north Cumbria. The ideal spot to get away from the every day rat race of modern living.
One of many old cottages in the village.

With very little public transport, a car is essential to get out and about.
The green runs the length of the village, surrounded on all sides by cottages.
The village shop, which is also the post office and tea rooms.
There are many locally produced goodies in the shop. Home made tea cakes and a tasty curried lentil pasty were duly bought! I could have spent a lot more.  Next time perhaps. It's good to support the village shop.

Another cottage. Every one was worth photographing!
The former Temperance Hall.
Note the old stable entrance on the left of this cottage
Another general view of the village.

There are very few buses that serve the village, and then it is only on certain days to either Keswick or Carlisle.
