Lancaster City Centre

Top end of Penny Street, looking toward the city centre.
Cloud over the City Museum.
Through the pillars of the Museum. The building in the background is the Library.

It was fairly quiet in Lancaster on Monday.
 Impresssive entrance to the Library.
Dalton Square. Part of the intricate carvings of the Victoria Monument on the left with Lancaster Town Hall and clock tower in the background.
The Victoria Monument was given to the town by Lord Ashton in 1907. It was originally intended for Williamson Park. The sculptor was Herbert Hampton. Queen Victoria and four lions are in bronze. The panels have reliefs of eminent Victorians, including Lancaster-born Richard Owen and Florence Nightingale.

Close up of the carved figures on the statue.
Floral window display in Dalton Square (Pic - Lynda Braithwaite).
General view of Dalton Square.
